Many different programs use RGB color hex codes. While some programs have color management, sometimes you’ll need to use a palette across many programs like Expression Blend, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML/CSS, and Flash. This handy sidebar gadget keeps your palettes at your fingertips, letting you quickly sample each hex code to your clipboard, so you can easily use your colors across all applications. Vista users can download the Colour Picker gadget now from Windows Live Gallery.
A side project from Live Labs designer Jeff Weir, the gadget also lets you search for palettes available from COLOURlovers, a fantastic resource for interesting and inspiring colors. Some people here in the lab don’t even use it for color management – they use it simply as a decoration that looks good next to their desktop.
